The official record in one minute

  1. 1947 Pilot Kenneth Arnold reports "flying saucers"; Roswell follows.
  2. 1952 to 1969 Project Blue Book logs 12,618 sightings; 701 stay unidentified. The 1969 Condon Report closes the file.

  4. 2020 The Pentagon officially releases the FLIR, Gimbal and GoFast videos.
  5. 2021 US intelligence assesses 144 military reports; it can explain one.
  6. 2022 AARO is created to investigate UAP across all domains.
  7. 2023 NASA's study finds no evidence of alien origin. David Grusch testifies about crash retrievals.
  8. 2024 AARO's historical report finds no evidence of recovered alien technology. Its annual report counts 1,652 cases.

What "unidentified" really means

Most unresolved cases lack data: a few seconds of blurry video, one witness, no radar. When AARO does get good data, cases usually turn out to be balloons, drones, birds, satellites or sensor quirks. A small share stays unexplained, which is what you'd expect from any big pile of sightings, and is also exactly where a real discovery would hide.
